Awakened Weapons in Albion Online: Traits, Strain, Cost and Price

To awaken a weapon, bring a Pristine weapon (enchantment .4) of tier 4 to 8 to an Artifact Foundry and pay Silver, Siphoned Energy and Avalonian Energy. The awakened weapon then earns Attunement when you kill creatures. You spend that Attunement, plus Silver, to add, replace and upgrade up to three traits. Every trait action raises the weapon's Strain, and the higher the Strain, the more the next action costs.

The costs and formulas below come from the game's data files. The examples use the 54 awakened weapons listed on AFM's Awakened Items page on 3 November 2026.

What can be awakened

  • Weapons only, tier 4 to 8, enchantment .4. Off-hands and armor cannot be awakened.
  • Every weapon line works: swords, axes, maces, hammers, spears, daggers, quarterstaffs, war gloves, bows, crossbows, shapeshifter staffs and fire, frost, arcane, cursed, holy and nature staffs, artifact and Crystal weapons included.
  • The weapon must not be damaged or overcharged, and you need a free inventory slot to take the awakened weapon back.
  • Runes, souls and relics only take gear up to .3, so a .4 weapon is crafted from Pristine (.4) materials. The Enchanting guide explains the difference.

Once awakened, the weapon is attuned to you and keeps a Historical Record: who awakened it, its previous owners and every trait change. Disenchant at the Artifact Foundry turns it back into a normal .4 weapon and removes all its traits and Attunement.

How much awakening costs

Weapon Silver Siphoned Energy Avalonian Energy
T4 (4.4) 124,800 3 3
T5 (5.4) 304,800 6 6
T6 (6.4) 746,400 13 13
T7 (7.4) 2,005,800 34 34
T8 (8.4) 6,000,000 100 100

The base cost is 6,000,000 Silver and 100 of each energy, multiplied by a tier factor (0.0208 at T4, 0.0508 at T5, 0.1244 at T6, 0.3343 at T7, 1 at T8), with the energies rounded up. Like other Silver fees in the game, such as repairs and teleports, the Silver part is then multiplied by the server's global multiplier, which the game's payment window lists as Global Discount. It was 1.156 on Europe on 3 November 2026, so a T8 awakening cost about 6.94 million Silver there. The repair costs guide explains this multiplier.

Both energies trade on the Marketplace. On Europe on 3 November 2026, Siphoned Energy sold for about 11,000 Silver and Avalonian Energy for about 7,900 (Albion Data Project prices), so the energies added about 57,000 Silver at T4 and 1.9 million at T8.

Attunement: how the weapon earns trait points

In the game's own words, Attunement "can be earned by slaying creatures", and "Tier 6 and higher Awakened Weapons can only gain Attunement in lethal areas".

  • T6, T7 and T8 weapons earn Attunement only in lethal (full-loot) zones. The zones guide explains which zones those are.
  • Each weapon can only hold so much Attunement; the game tells you when the maximum is reached.
  • The weapon earns Attunement, and its traits work, only for the character it is attuned to. In some areas traits are switched off, and the tooltip says "Awakened items do not benefit from Traits in this area."

51 of the 54 weapons listed on AFM were T4 or T5, the tiers that can also earn Attunement outside lethal zones.

Traits: add, replace and upgrade

At the Artifact Foundry, Modify Traits has three actions:

  • Add Trait fills an empty slot. The game shows three random traits and you pick one.
  • Replace Trait rolls three new options for a slot you already filled. You can keep your current trait instead.
  • Upgrade Trait raises the strength of one trait.

A new trait starts weak, at 1% to 3% of its full strength. An upgrade adds 2% to 6% of the strength still missing, and with a 33.75% chance it is critical and adds 10% to 30% instead. Because every gain is a share of what is missing, upgrades shrink as a trait gets close to 100%. On average one upgrade closes about 9.4% of the gap, so taking a fresh trait to about 90% strength takes around 23 upgrades.

The first trait slot is open at once. The second and third open at a minimum Legendary Rating (see the Legendary Rating section).

Which traits can appear depends on the weapon, and Common traits come up twice as often as Uncommon ones. On a weapon with 17 possible traits (most weapons), a given Common trait is in about 26% of offers and a given Uncommon trait in about 14%. On average that is about 4 rolls to see a specific Common trait and about 7 for an Uncommon one, and every roll costs Silver, Attunement and Strain.

Trait Rarity Value at full strength Weapons
Ability Damage Common +16.5% All
Defense vs. All Common +12.28% All
Energy Cost Reduction Common +24% All
Item Power Common +120 All
Max Health Common +511 at 1,160 IP, grows with Item Power All
Healing Cast Common +15% Holy and nature staffs
Auto-Attack Damage Uncommon +24% All
Auto-Attack Speed Uncommon +24% All
Auto-Attack Range Uncommon +20% Bows, crossbows and magic staffs
Cast Time Reduction Uncommon −20% All
Cooldown Rate Uncommon −12% All
Crowd Control Duration Uncommon +32% All
Crowd Control Resistance Uncommon +30.23 at 1,160 IP, grows with Item Power All
Healing Received Uncommon +15% All
Life Steal Uncommon +10% All
Max Energy Uncommon +144 at 1,160 IP, grows with Item Power All
PvE Fame Uncommon +30% All
Resilience Penetration Uncommon +14% Melee weapons
Threat Generation Uncommon +1,118% at 1,160 IP, grows with Item Power All

Most traits have the same maximum on every weapon. Max Health, Max Energy, Crowd Control Resistance and Threat Generation grow with the weapon's Item Power, and the Item Power trait raises them further (it does not raise itself). The Awakened Calculator shows the exact range for your weapon, and the value of a fresh roll, under Possible Traits.

Strain: why every action costs more

Each action costs Attunement and Silver, and both grow with Strain:

Attunement cost = base cost × tier factor × current Strain
Silver cost = Attunement cost × 33 × server multiplier
Strain          = 1 + (Attunement spent / (6,450 × tier factor))^0.65

The base cost is 10,000 for Add Trait and Replace Trait and 6,667 for Upgrade Trait. A freshly awakened weapon has Strain 1:

Weapon Add or Replace: Attunement Add or Replace: Silver Upgrade: Attunement Upgrade: Silver
T4 208 6,864 139 4,576
T5 508 16,764 339 11,176
T6 1,244 41,052 829 27,369
T7 3,343 110,319 2,229 73,549
T8 10,000 330,000 6,667 220,011

Strain climbs quickly, and it climbs the same way at every tier, because the Attunement you spend is divided by the same tier factor that sets the prices. Only the bill changes: a T8 weapon pays about 48 times what a T4 weapon pays for the same action. One Add Trait followed by upgrades, Silver before the server multiplier:

Actions done Strain after Silver spent at T4 Silver spent at T8
1 2.33 6,864 330,000
10 18 347,000 16.7 million
20 50 1.78 million 85 million
30 97 5.0 million 240 million
40 159 10.7 million 512 million

The Attunement you have to farm grows the same way. That is why the game's tutorial says "you may want to add multiple Traits rather than focus on a single one", and why most listed weapons stop with traits around 50% to 60% strength.

Focus returns part of the Attunement an action costs (the AFM calculator uses 37.11%). In the calculator's model it does not lower the Silver cost or the Strain. See the Focus guide for how much Focus you get per day.

Legendary Rating

Every awakened weapon has a Legendary Rating that grows with the strength of its traits:

Legendary Rating = tier maximum × sum of trait strengths / 4, rounded to the nearest whole number

A trait's strength is where it sits between its minimum and its full value, from 0% to 100%.

Weapon Tier maximum Opens 2nd slot Opens 3rd slot Three traits at 100%
T4 208 15 30 156
T5 508 35 70 381
T6 1,244 85 170 933
T7 3,343 225 450 2,507
T8 10,000 675 1,350 7,500

So the second slot opens when your first trait reaches about 27% to 29% strength, and the third when your two traits add up to about 54% to 58%.

The rating also protects the weapon. From the game's tutorial: "The higher its rating, the more the chance of the weapon being destroyed on death is reduced. Instead it can become lost, later returning to the world as a drop from the Black Market."

Buying an awakened weapon: check Strain first

When an awakened weapon changes hands, the new owner must Reattune it at the Artifact Foundry before it earns Attunement or its traits work. It keeps all its traits but loses any unspent Attunement. The fee grows with Strain:

Reattunement fee = 1,000,000 × tier factor × Strain × server multiplier

Per point of Strain that is 20,800 Silver at T4, 50,800 at T5, 124,400 at T6, 334,300 at T7 and 1,000,000 at T8, before the server multiplier.

For example, an Excellent Adept's Spear [4.4] listed on AFM for 4.8 million Silver had Defense vs. All +7.15%, Max Health +297 and Ability Damage +9.17%, a Legendary Rating of 87 and Strain 96.1. Reattuning it costs 96.1 × 20,800, about 2.0 million Silver before the server multiplier (2.3 million at Europe's 1.156), on top of the price. Two weapons with the same traits can differ by millions in reattunement, so compare Strain before you agree on a price.

Find and price awakened weapons with AFM

Awakened Items lists the awakened weapons AFM users offer on your server, and you can browse it without signing in. Filter by item, traits, maximum Strain and minimum Legendary Rating, then contact the seller in game. To list your own weapon you need the AFM Data Client, which reads the weapon's traits and Strain from the game.

View in calculator opens an offer in the Awakened Calculator with its item, quality, traits and Strain filled in. You can also start there: pick a weapon and quality, choose up to three traits and move each slider to the value you want, then enter prices or sign in to load Estimated Market Values.

Awakened Calculator weapon and trait targets for an Excellent Adept's Spear 4.4 with Defense vs. All, Max Health and Ability Damage

The calculator simulates making that weapon 50,000 times and shows:

  • Creation cost (median): what a similar weapon costs to make, with the base weapon, awakening, energies and every trait action.
  • Fair price: the price where buying is cheaper about half the time and making your own is cheaper the other half, after the buyer's reattunement fee.
  • Resale and Strain bands: whether the asking price and the weapon's Strain are low or high compared with the simulated weapons.
Awakened Calculator results for the Adept's Spear: fair price 4.8 million, median creation cost 7.1 million, buyer reattunement 2.3 million, asking price in the Fair band and Strain 96.1 in the Normal band

For the spear, with Europe prices, making a similar weapon costs about 7.1 million at the median, and after the 2.3 million reattunement the fair price is 4.8 million. The asking price was fair, even though building it cost the seller about 7.1 million by the calculator's estimate from the weapon's Attunement spent. Use P75 or P90 under Detailed estimates as a safer budget when you plan your own weapon. If you switch off Assume target traits on first try, the calculator also counts the extra rolls and Strain of chasing one specific trait, and compares disenchanting and awakening again after a number of misses.

What players build

On the 54 weapons listed on AFM on 3 November 2026 (all three servers), the most common traits were PvE Fame (26 weapons), Ability Damage (19), Max Health (15), Item Power (14) and Defense vs. All (9). The most listed weapon was the Adept's Mistpiercer [4.4] with a single PvE Fame trait (15 offers), a fame-farming weapon. This shows what sellers made, not what wins fights, but it fits the mechanics: four of the five are Common traits, which are cheaper to find.

Before your first roll:

  • Decide what the weapon is for and which traits you will keep. A Replace costs as much as an Add and raises Strain just the same.
  • Spread upgrades over your traits instead of pushing one to 100%.
  • Plan where you will farm: a T6 or higher weapon only gains Attunement in lethal zones.
  • Before you buy, compare the reattunement fee from the weapon's Strain with the price.
