Albion Online Study Calculator
The Study Calculator finds the cheapest items to study for any Albion Online crafting, cooking or alchemy specialization. Pick a Destiny Board node and a target level, and it ranks every item that gives fame to that node by silver per fame, using your current specs and Estimated Market Values on your server. It also compares buying and studying with crafting the items yourself, selling them on the Black Market or studying what you craft, so you can see which route to the target level is cheapest.
Study fame
Studying destroys an item at its crafting station and grants 275% of its crafting fame to every Destiny Board node the item belongs to. Quality does not matter, so the cheapest quality is always the one to buy. Each studied item also pays the station's usage fee for its nutrition, like crafting it would.
Game data, not guesses
The study factor, the focus bonus, the fame each level needs, the per-node multipliers, the item lists of every specialization, which stations allow studying, the daily bonus values, the nutrition behind the station fee, the market tax and the premium bonuses are all read from the game's data files, so the numbers follow the game's updates.
Enchanted and artifact items
Enchanted items are crafted from enchanted materials and carry much more fame per item. Artifact items credit extra fame to the Destiny Board, and the calculator includes that factor.
Daily bonus, focus and premium
City bonuses no longer raise study fame. The Daily Production Bonus adds 10% or 20% for items of its crafting category, studying with focus adds 59% and premium adds 50%, and the three multiply. The daily bonus also returns more materials when you craft those items. Pick today's bonus or a fixed one, and tick focus if you use it. Studying an item with focus costs the same focus as crafting one, lowered by your specializations. The game charges a whole Study action of up to 40 items at the focus cost you have when it starts, and an action that needs more focus than you hold spends it all for a smaller focus bonus; the calculator counts the first and warns you about the second.
Where studying is allowed
The game's building data marks refining stations, butchers, mills and stables as stations that cannot study, so refined materials, meat, flour, butter and mounts are left out. Weapons, armor, tools, bags, capes, food and potions can be studied where they are crafted.
Quick Learn
Quick Learn on a Destiny Board node multiplies the fame it earns by 5 and spends its learning points as that fame comes in, so a level takes a fifth of the items for the same learning points it would cost to unlock. Tick Quick Learn to see the items, cost and focus with it, the learning points it spends (the mastery's too while "Mastery too" is ticked) and the silver it saves per learning point. Untick it to see what it would spend and save.
Masteries level for free
Every item studied for a specialization also feeds its mastery and the nodes above it, so the mastery usually reaches 100 long before the specialization does.
Lowest EMV
Logged-in users get the lowest Estimated Market Value across qualities for each item. Every price can be overridden with the price you can actually buy at.
Craft, sell or study
Crafting gives fame too. The calculator prices every craftable item with material EMVs in its bonus city, adds the station fee, and compares three routes: buy and study, craft and sell on the Black Market, or craft and study the result. Craft and sell is off to start, because it assumes the Black Market takes every item at its EMV; switch it on if that is how you level. Craft with focus if you like to see the cost, income and net result of each route.
A specialization lowers the focus cost of its own item by 280 efficiency per level (370 for capes and 340 for bags), while its sister specializations and the mastery each add 30 per level to the whole family; artifact specializations share 15 or less. Because a low level needs far less fame than level 100, taking a sister specialization from 0 to 20 is often cheaper than the last levels of the specialization you craft with. The calculator lists every node that lowers the focus cost of your item, finds the cheapest mix of levels for a target focus cost, and compares it with levelling the one specialization alone. Each node's levels are priced in whole items of its cheapest item on the cheapest route you switched on, counting the progress you already have in the current level. Levels come in whole steps, so the plan lands at or just under the target.
- Open the Calculator tab, choose the character whose specs to use, and pick the specialization you want to level. Its saved specs fill in the current level; adjust it if needed, and type the fame you already have toward the next level as the Destiny Board shows it, the first number of 254,195 / 259,504.
- In "How you level", pick the routes you use: buy and study, craft and study, or craft and sell on the Black Market, which is off to start because it assumes the Black Market takes every item at its EMV. Set the daily bonus, focus, Quick Learn, Premium and the station fee there too, and ignore the tiers or enchantments you do not want to deal with; .3 and .4 items are left out until you clear them. Every plan on the page follows these settings.
- "Reach level" shows the cheapest plan to your target level: the item, how many to buy or craft, the route and the total silver, with the other routes under it. Move the target with the slider. Open the item list to see every item with its cheapest route, sort it, or type your own price where the market differs from the EMV.
- Open "Check against the game" under the plan before you pay: it shows what the Study tab should list for the first Study action (the fame to each node with its daily bonus, premium and focus shares, the Quick Learn bonus and learning points, the study cost and the focus) and the level and progress the Destiny Board should show after it. It also warns you when one action needs more focus than you hold.
- "Reach a focus cost" shows the cheapest mix of levels across every node that lowers the focus cost of your item. Pick the focus cost you want, to one decimal; it follows the level target until you move it, and "Match level" brings it back. The costliest node comes first, and the last column shows the focus cost once the rows down to it are done. Open "Best value next level" to see which node gives the most focus efficiency per silver right now.
Fame per studied item = Crafting fame × Study factor × Artifact factor × Daily bonus × Focus × Premium
Items to study = Fame needed ÷ Fame per item, rounded up, and Total cost = Items × (Price + Station fee).
Fame needed is the sum of the Destiny Board requirements of every level between your current and target levels, minus the fame you already have toward the next level.
With Quick Learn, Fame to earn = Fame needed ÷ 5, and Learning points spent follow the fame the whole items give, the fame past the target included: each level's points in the share of its fame earned, the mastery's too while "Mastery too" is ticked, rounded up as the game does. Silver saved per LP = (Cost without Quick Learn − Cost with it) ÷ Learning points spent. On a route that earns silver, Quick Learn crafts and sells fewer items, so it shows the profit lost per LP instead.
Craft cost per item = Materials after the resource return of the bonus city and the daily bonus × Material EMV + Station fee, and Craft fame per item = Crafting fame × Artifact factor × Premium. Craft and sell earns the Black Market EMV minus the sales tax, so its net cost per fame can be negative, which means a profit. Craft and study adds the study fame of the crafted item to its crafting fame for the same craft cost. With focus on, the bonus city returns more materials and the focus each item needs follows your specs; each Study action of up to 40 items is charged at the focus cost you have when it starts, so the levels it brings lower the actions after it. Focus is counted, not priced. Journals are never used.
