Focus in Albion Online: How to Get It, How Much per Day and Where to Spend It
Focus is the resource that makes crafting, refining, farming and studying more productive. It is one of the main reasons to keep Premium: with Premium you get 10,000 Focus a day, and every point you spend well turns into silver.
This guide covers how Focus is earned, what it does in each activity, how far a day of Focus goes, and how to find the use that pays the most.
How to get Focus
| With Premium | Without Premium | |
|---|---|---|
| Focus regenerated per day | 10,000 | 0 |
| Maximum Focus | 30,000 | 30,000 |
Values from the game's character data.
- Focus only regenerates while Premium is active. Without Premium it does not refill. Premium can be bought with gold, and gold with silver on the Gold Market, so a player who makes enough silver can pay for it in game.
- Focus stops at 30,000, three days of regeneration. Spend it at least every three days, or what you would have regenerated after that is lost.
- A new character starts with 0 Focus.
What Focus does
| Activity | Effect of Focus | Base Focus cost |
|---|---|---|
| Refining | +59% production bonus: more of your materials come back | 54 per T4 bar, plank, cloth or leather; 503 per T8 |
| Crafting | +59% production bonus | 1,286 per Adept's Broadsword (T4.0); 12,064 per Elder's Broadsword (T8.0) |
| Farming | Watering a crop or herb, or nurturing an animal, raises the chance of getting the seed or baby back | 1,000 per crop or animal |
| Studying | Study fame × 1.59 | Depends on the item |
Base costs are before your specialization. Every 10,000 Focus Cost Efficiency from your Destiny Board levels halves them; the Focus cost guide explains how.
Refining and crafting: return rate
Focus adds 59 points to the production bonus, which raises the share of materials you get back:
| Where | Without Focus | With Focus |
|---|---|---|
| Refining in the city with the resource's bonus (58%) | 36.7% | 53.9% |
| Crafting in a city with the item's bonus (33%) | 24.8% | 47.9% |
| Crafting in a city without a bonus (18%) | 15.3% | 43.5% |

The Resource Return Rate Calculator ranks every place you can craft or refine an item, with or without Focus, and the Resource Return Rate guide shows the formula with a worked example.
Farming: seeds and babies
Every crop and herb has a chance to give its seed back at harvest, and watering it with Focus adds to that chance. Watered, every tier gives back more than one seed on average, so your stock of seeds grows instead of shrinking:
| Crop tier | Seed back without watering | Seed back with watering |
|---|---|---|
| T1 | 0% | 200% |
| T2 | 33% | 167% |
| T3 | 60% | 140% |
| T4 | 73% | 127% |
| T5 | 80% | 120% |
| T6 | 87% | 113% |
| T7 | 91% | 109% |
| T8 | 93% | 107% |
Nurturing farm animals works the same way for offspring. Your farming levels lower the 1,000 Focus per action: Crop Farmer gives 100 Focus Cost Efficiency per level and each crop specialization 200 more, so at 100 in both, watering a crop costs 125 Focus.
Studying: more fame
Studying an item with Focus multiplies its study fame by 1.59. The studying guide has the full formula.
How far 10,000 Focus goes
At base cost, with no specialization, one day of Focus covers:
| Recipe | Base Focus | Crafts with 10,000 Focus |
|---|---|---|
| T4 Metal Bar | 54 | 185 |
| T5 Metal Bar | 94 | 106 |
| T6 Metal Bar | 164 | 60 |
| T7 Metal Bar | 287 | 34 |
| T8 Metal Bar | 503 | 19 |
| Adept's Broadsword (T4.0) | 1,286 | 7 |
| Watering a crop | 1,000 | 10 |
Specialization changes this a lot. An Elder Ore Smelter at level 100 gives T8 bars 28,000 Focus Cost Efficiency (250 per level for T8, plus 30 per level for every bar), which brings a T8 bar from 503 to 72 Focus: 138 bars a day instead of 19.
Where to spend it
The best use of Focus is the one that pays the most extra silver per Focus: the profit you make with Focus, minus the profit you would make without it, divided by the Focus spent. It depends on prices, your specialization and where you craft, so it changes from day to day.
- Crafting and refining: the Profitable Crafts page ranks what makes silver on your server with your Focus and taxes, and shows the Extra Profit / Focus of each craft (its results are a Masterpiece feature). The Crafting Calculator shows the same for one recipe you plan.
- Farming: the Farming and Breeding Calculator shows the profit per Focus of every crop, herb and animal, so you can compare watering with crafting.
- Leveling: if you are leveling a crafting node by studying, Focus gives 59% more fame per item. Compare the silver that saves with what the same Focus would earn crafting.
A few rules of thumb hold most of the time:
- Use Focus where the materials are expensive. Focus saves a share of the materials, so the same Focus saves more silver on high-tier and enchanted recipes.
- Refine and craft in the city with the bonus. The bonus and Focus add up: 117% production bonus refining in the bonus city, against 77% in a city without one.
- Specialize what you focus. Each 10,000 Focus Cost Efficiency doubles the crafts a day of Focus pays for.
- Add a Daily Production Bonus. On a day with a 10% or 20% bonus for your category, Focus and the bonus stack.
