How to Enchant Gear in Albion Online with Runes, Souls and Relics
Enchanting raises a finished item by one enchantment level, from .0 to .1, .1 to .2 or .2 to .3, and gives it 100 more Item Power each time. You pay with runes, souls and relics of the item's tier. This guide shows how many each item needs, where they come from, and how to tell whether enchanting is cheaper than buying the enchanted item.
The material counts and conversion costs below are read from the game's item data.
What each step needs
| Step | Material | Example for a T6 item |
|---|---|---|
| .0 to .1 | Runes | Master's Rune |
| .1 to .2 | Souls | Master's Soul |
| .2 to .3 | Relics | Master's Relic |
- The runes, souls or relics must be of the same tier as the item.
- The item keeps its quality: an Excellent 6.0 becomes an Excellent 6.1.
- You enchant at a crafting station that crafts the item, for example a Warrior's Forge for a sword.
- .4 cannot be reached by enchanting. A .4 item can only be crafted from .4 materials.
How many runes, souls and relics

Each step takes 12 times the number of materials in the item's recipe, not counting artifacts:
| Item | Materials in the recipe | Per step | .0 to .3 in total |
|---|---|---|---|
| One-handed weapon | 24 | 288 | 864 |
| Two-handed weapon | 32 | 384 | 1,152 |
| Chest armor or bag | 16 | 192 | 576 |
| Helmet, shoes, cape or off-hand | 8 | 96 | 288 |
For example, a Master's Claymore (20 Metal Bars and 12 Leather) needs 384 Master's Runes to become 6.1, then 384 Master's Souls for 6.2 and 384 Master's Relics for 6.3. An artifact weapon such as a Bedrock Mace counts only its bars and cloth, so it needs the same 288 per step as a normal one-handed weapon.
The cost of an enchantment is the count times the price:
Cost of one step = Count × Price of one rune, soul or relic
Souls cost more than runes and relics more than souls, so the last step is usually the most expensive.
Item Power and equivalent tiers
Each enchantment level adds 100 Item Power, the same as one tier. These items have the same base Item Power:
4.4 = 5.3 = 6.2 = 7.1 = 8.0
They are not the same in every way: higher tiers have a higher mastery modifier (5% at T5 up to 20% at T8), which increases the Item Power your Destiny Board levels add. The Item Power guide explains it.
Where runes, souls and relics come from
They drop from mobs and chests in the open world and in dungeons, and they are traded on every Marketplace. You can also convert them at the Artifact Foundry:
| Conversion | T4 | T5 | T6 | T7 | T8 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 rune + silver → 1 soul | 625 | 1,250 | 2,500 | 5,000 | 10,000 |
| 1 soul + silver → 1 relic | 2,500 | 5,000 | 10,000 | 20,000 | 40,000 |
Five runes, souls or relics of one tier also combine into one of the next tier, at no silver cost.
A conversion only pays when the price gap is bigger than the silver it costs. For a T6 soul made from a rune:
Worth converting if: Price of a Master's Soul > Price of a Master's Rune + 2,500
Relics also turn into Avalonian Shards, used to make Avalonian artifacts: 1 relic plus silver gives 1 shard of the same tier.
Enchant or buy enchanted?
Often the cheapest way to get a 6.3 is not to buy a 6.3. You can:
- Buy the item at a lower enchantment and enchant it yourself.
- Buy a lower or higher quality and reroll it (see the quality reroll guide).
- Buy an equivalent tier instead, such as a 7.1 or an 8.0 for a 6.2.

On November 3, 2026, on the Americas server, an Excellent Master's Broadsword 6.3 sold for 1,319,999 silver. The Excellent 6.0 cost 31,990, and 288 runes (149 each), 288 souls (691 each) and 288 relics (2,251 each) cost 890,208 more: 922,198 in total, 397,801 less than buying the 6.3. Prices change every day, so check before you buy.
The Upgrade Calculator compares all of these with live market prices. Pick the item, the enchantment and the quality you want, and it lists every path: the buy price, the reroll cost and the runes, souls and relics needed, against buying the item ready. Turn on Add Equivalent Tiers to compare 4.4, 5.3, 6.2, 7.1 and 8.0 too.
Tips
- Check the Black Market. If you enchant to sell, the Black Market Flipper shows what the Black Market pays for each enchantment.
- Quality stays, so choose it first. Reroll quality before you enchant: a reroll costs more silver on an enchanted item.
- Craft .1 to .3 yourself if you craft. Enchanted items can also be crafted from enchanted materials; the Crafting Calculator shows whether crafting the enchanted version beats enchanting a .0.
